Workshop Description:

This workshop focuses on the methods and tools needed to make a portrait directly from a live model in order to study his anatomy, structure, proportion, skull, facial features, carefully observation of his different expressions and possible interpretation. In addition, it will provide an understanding of techniques from Italian and European old Masters. There will be more group and private talks and demos as needed. This course is open to all levels of experience.

About the Instructor:

Dionisio Cimarelli was born in Italy; he boasts a wide international experience. He holds a BFA in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, Italy. He also studied at the Repin Institute of Arts (St. Petersburg, Russia) and at the Academy of Fine Arts (Prague, Czech Republic). He participated in restoration project at the Louvre Museum (Paris), the Royal Church (Copenhagen), the Royal Palace (Stockholm), at Strasbourg Cathedral, France. He has been invited as guest professor at Wimbledon School of Art (London) and at King Saud University (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). He exhibited in the International Art Biennale (Beijing), the International Sculpture Biennial (Shanghai), and at MOCA Museum (Shanghai) and in 2011 at the Venice Biennale.
