This workshop will address methods of casting and building using Aqua Resin. This environmentally green, lightweight but durable compound material can be used in sculpture, painting, crafts, and installations. All materials will be provided. The class will cover the basics of: pattern making, mold making, mixing ratios, foam-coating, joining of disparate parts, the use of color, and the painting/patina of finished work.
Rand Hardy received a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1968. He exhibited in the 1970 Information Show at the Museum of Modern Art, the 1972 Whitney Annual, and has a permanent outdoor sculpture installation in Soho. From 1992 to 2009 he was an adjunct faculty member teaching in the sculpture department at New York University. Mr. Hardy has been making sculptures using Aqua Resin for 20 years and has had five one-person exhibitions of works made exclusively of this material.
