Class Description


In this class Yarmosky will explore the figure through the observation of gesture, light and shadow. We will be working with both graphite and Prismacolor pencils on paper. There will be brief lectures and demonstrations in regards to the observation of light with techniques such as creating layers to build light with both graphite pencils and Prismacolor pencils. One-on-one instruction (for both beginners and more advanced students) is provided to facilitate each student's understanding and growth in drawing from observation. 


About the Instructor


Yarmosky graduated with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2010. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited and collected internationally. His work has been featured in numerous publications including the Wall Street Journal, Art Forum, Artnet, Blouin Artinfo, HypeBeast, Complex, Whitewall, Juxtapoz, American Artist Drawing, American Art Collector, and The Huffington Post, and he is a past winner of the Elizabeth Greenshields Award. His work has been exhibited at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, San Antonio Museum of Art, Brigham Young University Museum of Art, South Dakota Art Museum, Yellowstone Art Museum, Huntsville Museum of Art among others, and with galleries in New York City, Los Angeles, Paris, and Brussels. He has recently had solo exhibitions at the Huntington Museum of Art and the University of Maine Museum of Art.
