Interdisciplinary Course Topics

Painters, Drawers, Sculptures are all welcome!
Ms. Kiese’s writing and art class offers students the opportunity to share and discuss their ideas while continuing their artistic studies. Students use creative writing to clarify and inspire their artmaking. In-class readings and discussions covering interdisciplinary topics in sculpture, painting, drawing, and philosophy inspire students to expand their creativity. Ms. Kiese encourages students to seek inspiration from artists across all mediums, from poetry to visual art. 

About the Instructor

Silya Kiese is a sculpture and light artist. 

She attended The Art Students League of New York and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she received her M.F.A.

A distinguished lecturer in art, philosophy, and art history, Ms. Kiese has spoken at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, School of Visual Arts, the University of California, Los Angeles, Rutgers University, and the Silvermine Guild Art Center. She was a visiting artist and lecturer at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Seattle Pacific University, Evergreen State College, and University of California, Berkeley. Her life-size sculptures, light art, and installations are exhibited internationally.
